China-U.S. Track 1.5 Dialogue

The third China-U.S. Track 1.5 Dialogue took place in Beijing, organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Asia Society. The meeting involved approximately 40 representatives from government, academia, think tanks, and the business community.

Under the theme ‘Constructive Strategic Stability — Pragmatic Cooperation Between China and the US in the New Era,’ participants engaged in discussions regarding economic cooperation, trade, healthcare, food security, and cultural exchanges. A significant portion of the dialogue focused on managing risks associated with artificial intelligence development and enhancing political mutual trust.

Chinese officials, including Wang Huning, noted a readiness to implement agreements previously reached by President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump. U.S. representatives, including Asia Society Co-Chairman John L. Thornton, characterized the bilateral relationship as being at a “critical juncture,” emphasizing the necessity of increased communication to manage differences and address global challenges.
