China boosts rural revitalization via e-commerce and livestock supply chains

Efforts to bolster China's rural economy are advancing through specialized e-commerce initiatives and improved supply chains for livestock products.

In Quanchiao Town, Henan Province, local authorities have transitioned from relying on external influencers to training a dedicated team of “Red Agriculture Live-streaming Hosts.” This team, composed of village officials, returning university students, and veterans, operates out of a newly established 600-square-meter e-commerce park. The initiative aims to increase local profits by reducing reliance on third-party fees and intends to expand the team to over 30 members by 2026 while reducing logistics costs by 20%.

Simultaneously, JD.com has launched the first “JD Sheep Season” to connect high-quality livestock from six regions across Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and Gansu directly to consumers. The program addresses logistical challenges in remote pastoral areas by utilizing JD's supply chain for direct sourcing and rapid delivery. The initiative includes a three-year partnership plan to manage the sale of 100,000 sheep from winning production areas, aiming to stabilize income for herders and ensure the authenticity of geographically branded meat products.
