Brazil grain production projected to exceed storage capacity by 133 million tons

Brazil faces a significant agricultural bottleneck as grain production is projected to outpace storage capacity by approximately 133 million tons during the 2026/27 harvest. According to Conab, the projected harvest of 366.6 million tons far exceeds the country's current storage capacity of 233.8 million tons, leaving only about 64% of the expected volume with adequate space.

This deficit limits farmers' ability to time their sales, often forcing them to sell during peak harvest periods when supply is high and prices are pressured. Isan Rezende, president of the Instituto do Agronegócio, noted that the lack of on-site silos affects rural income by reducing commercial freedom and increasing logistics pressure.
