China Completes 363.2 Billion Yuan Railway Investment in H1 2024
China's national railway system recorded a fixed‑asset investment of 363.2 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a 2.1 % increase over the same period last year. During this time 355.2 km of new railway lines were put into service.
Key openings included the Xi’an‑Shiyan high‑speed line, the Wuhan‑Xi’an corridor now fully operational, and the Beijing‑sub‑center commuter line (Beijing West‑Liangxiang). Ongoing projects such as the Xiong’an‑Shangqiu high‑speed segment, the Hangzhou‑Taizhou line, and the Harbin‑Yichun high‑speed railway entered joint‑testing phases, while other major corridors like the Chengdu‑Chongqing central line and the Shanghai‑Chongqing‑Chengdu high‑speed route reported progress on critical engineering works.
