China delivers emergency earthquake relief to Colombia

Emergency humanitarian earthquake relief supplies sent by the Chinese government arrived at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia, on August 18. The aid follows a devastating earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, resulting in significant loss of life and property damage.

The relief shipment includes essential items such as generators, water purification vehicles, disinfection machines, solar lighting equipment, tents, and blankets. The Chinese government also provided immediate cash assistance to support reconstruction efforts and aid affected populations.

Chinese Ambassador Chu Qingyang attended a welcoming ceremony at the airport alongside representatives from the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local government, and the National Disaster Management Agency. Ambassador Chu noted that the cooperation between the two nations reflects a strong friendship and mutually beneficial bilateral relations. David Santiago Tamayo, Director of the Colombian National Disaster Management Agency, confirmed that the agency will coordinate with local authorities to ensure the proper distribution of the materials.
