China deploys emergency flood response amid heavy rainfall

Heavy rainfall and the influence of Typhoon 'Baihai' have triggered emergency flood control responses in several regions of China.

In Tongbai County, Henan Province, authorities activated a Level IV emergency response between August 10 and 12. Local officials and party members implemented a grid-based management system to secure high-risk areas, including the relocation of residents from low-lying villages such as Zhuwa. Volunteers and local cadres have been deployed to monitor reservoirs and manage flooded bridges to prevent accidents.

In a separate incident involving the Mudanjiang River basin, the Northern Theater Command Air Force deployed over 100 personnel and 15 vehicles to combat rising water levels. The unit transported 8,000 pieces of flood relief supplies to reinforce a 400-meter section of the embankment. Despite heavy rain and hail, the troops completed the construction of a sandbag levee to protect local communities from potential flooding.
