China expands high-speed rail network with four new lines
China has expanded its high-speed rail network with the simultaneous opening of four new lines spanning the northern, northwestern, central, and northeastern regions.
The new routes include:
• The Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed rail section connecting Xiong’an to Shangqiu, covering 552 kilometers with a design speed of 350 km/h.
• The Xi’an to Ankang section of the Xi-Yu high-speed rail, spanning 171 kilometers with a design speed of 350 km/h, significantly reducing travel times between the Guanzhong and southern Shaanxi regions.
• The Yichang to Xingshan line, measuring 101 kilometers with a design speed of 350 km/h.
• The Harbin to Yichun line, covering 318 kilometers with a design speed of 250 km/h, expanding the two-hour travel radius around Harbin.
These developments aim to improve regional connectivity, facilitate economic development, and reduce transit times between major economic hubs and industrial zones.
