China Highlights Vietnam Friendship and Global Civilization Dialogue Initiative

Vietnam’s ambassador to China, Fan Qingping, told China Daily that the long‑standing “comrades plus brothers” relationship between the two communist states remains a strategic foundation for deeper cooperation. He praised the recent state visit of Vietnamese President and Party General Secretary Su Linh, noting agreements in infrastructure, rail links, trade, technology, digital transformation, education and tourism, and highlighted that more than 1,000 Vietnamese youth have taken part in “red‑study” trips to China.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a video address to the 2026 “Civilization Dialogue International Day” event, reaffirming the global civilizational initiative launched by President Xi Jinping three years ago. He outlined four guiding principles – mutual respect, people‑centred exchange, inheritance‑driven innovation, and continuous dialogue – and urged the use of UN platforms such as the Civilisation Alliance to foster worldwide cultural cooperation.

Both messages underscore China’s diplomatic push to strengthen bilateral ties with Vietnam and to promote a multilateral framework for cultural dialogue.
