China imposes sanctions on US firms and tightens drone export controls
China announced a package of counter‑measures against the United States, saying they are a response to recent American actions such as the FCC ban on Chinese drones, new tariffs and the addition of more than 40 Chinese entities to the Uyghur Forced‑Labor Prevention Act list. The measures include tightening export controls on unmanned‑aircraft systems and key components destined for the United States and blacklisting six U.S. companies – among them Applied DNA Sciences Inc. and Stratum Reservoir – while sanctioning seven other U.S. entities.
China also suspended factory‑follow‑up inspections carried out by Chinese certification bodies for U.S. firms, and launched national‑security investigations into imported office printers and copiers that contain foreign system software. Vice‑premier He Lifeng told U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that Beijing is “deeply concerned” about the restrictions and warned Washington to revoke the measures or face further counter‑measures. The announcements come weeks before an expected summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump.
