China launches nine satellites for disaster prevention

China has successfully launched nine satellites from the Dongfeng commercial space innovation pilot zone. The satellites were carried into orbit by the Lijian-1 Y18 rocket and have reached their planned trajectories.

According to Xinhua, the satellites are intended for monitoring the space environment, conducting scientific experiments, and aiding in the prevention and mitigation of disasters.

The launch marks the 17th mission conducted by the Lijian rocket series, developed by CAS Space, a Chinese commercial spaceflight company. To date, the Lijian series has successfully deployed one spacecraft and 121 satellites, with a total orbital payload mass exceeding 21 tons. CAS Space is noted as a leader in China’s private space sector regarding the volume and weight of payloads launched.
