Overview

Chinese commercial space company CAS Space has conducted successive launches using its Lijian-1 rocket series from the Dongfeng Commercial Aerospace Innovation Pilot Zone.

In late July 2026, the fifteenth flight of the Lijian-1 successfully deployed five satellites designed to test advanced technologies such as “space computing, embedded artificial intelligence, and autonomous orbital object management.”

On September 20, 2026, the seventeenth mission of the Lijian series—utilizing a Y18 carrier rocket—successfully deployed nine satellites into their planned trajectories. The payload included the Qinling-01 and Qinling-02 satellites, developed by Northwest Polytechnical University, which feature high-resolution panchromatic and multispectral cameras to support ecological conservation in the Qinling Mountains and Yellow River basin. Other satellites in this mission included Pujiang-4, Pengcheng-1, Diting-01A, Diting-01B, Diting-01C, Chaozhisuan-1, and Yunxiao Tanluzhe.

According to Xinhua, these satellites are intended for various applications, including space environment monitoring, scientific research, and the prevention and mitigation of disasters. To date, the Lijian series has successfully deployed one spacecraft and 121 satellites, with a total orbital payload mass exceeding 21 tons. CAS Space reported that market demand remains high, with its launch schedule filled through the second half of 2027.
