China Ministry of Water Resources issues flood warnings across multiple provinces

China's Ministry of Water Resources has issued a yellow flood warning for several provinces, including Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan, Jiangxi, Fujian, and Guangdong. The warning is due to the residual circulation of Typhoon Baihai, combined with cold air and monsoon trough influences. Heavy to torrential rains are expected between August 14 and 16, particularly in southern Jiangsu, northeastern Zhejiang, and central Guangdong.

Separately, the Shaying River, a tributary of the Huai River, has recorded its first flood of 2026. On August 12, water levels at the Zhoukou hydrological station in Henan reached the warning level of 46.10 meters. In response, the Ministry of Water Resources has activated a Level IV emergency response for Anhui and Henan provinces. Working groups have been deployed to these regions to assist with flood defense, water engineering scheduling, and the preparation of potential evacuations in high-risk areas.
