China railways drive summer consumption growth

China's railway sector is driving significant consumption growth during the summer travel season. Investigations show that railway departments are adjusting schedules to meet consumer demands, such as adding evening high-speed train services between Jinan and Xuchang to accommodate cross-province shopping trips.

To better integrate transport with local economies, railway authorities are collaborating with business districts and scenic spots. For example, new initiatives allow travelers to use train tickets for discounts or coupons at various venues. In the first half of the year, the number of tourism-related train trips increased by 84.8% year-on-year. Additionally, the sale of multi-segment tourism tickets rose twentyfold compared to the same period last year, directly driving 4.44 billion yuan in consumption along rail lines.
