China regulators crack down on motorcycle and power bank safety violations

Chinese regulatory authorities have announced enforcement actions following inspections of motorcycle production and power bank safety standards.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reported several cases of motorcycle production inconsistency. Inspections revealed vehicles failing to meet national standards regarding weight, lighting intensity, noise levels, pollutant emissions, and battery installation. Affected companies have faced measures including orders for rectification, suspension of product announcements, or revocation of product certificates.

Separately, the State Administration for Market Regulation released five typical cases involving power bank quality and safety. Investigations targeted companies producing or selling mobile power banks without mandatory CCC certification or those failing to meet national safety standards. Violations included the use of fraudulent CCC marks, selling uncertified multi-functional flashlights with power bank capabilities, and distributing products that failed thermal abuse safety tests. Penalties included product seizures, recalls, and administrative fines.
