China sees launch of NIU electric scooters and Smart LS9 Hyper SUV

NIU (小牛电动) unveiled three new electric motorcycle models on July 17: the N Fengchi priced at 3,999 yuan, the NX70 at 4,199 yuan and the NX100 at 4,899 yuan. The N Fengchi can reach 70 km/h, features a 4060 W motor, 35 L storage, CBS brake linkage and a lead‑acid battery. The NX70 offers a claimed 75 km range with a 72 V 24 Ah battery, while the NX100 extends the range to 100 km with a larger 72 V 35 Ah battery; both models include disc brakes, dual shock absorbers and TFT displays.

Smart (智己) introduced its flagship LS9 Hyper SUV on July 16. Two trims are priced at 319,800 yuan and 349,800 yuan. The vehicle incorporates full‑line control steering, an 800 V high‑voltage platform, laser radar and a high‑power computing unit, delivering a minimum turning radius of 4.95 m. The launch coincided with dealer disruptions in Yunnan and Zhuhai; the manufacturer pledged to cover affected customers and will tighten dealer entry standards while maintaining the current sales model.
