China Sets Mid-Year Economic Priorities on Domestic Demand, Industrial Independence and AI
China’s Communist Party Politburo held its mid‑year meeting and outlined the economic agenda for the second half of the year. The party stressed expanding domestic consumption, improving the quality of goods and services, and stabilising employment, enterprises and market expectations.
Key priorities include strengthening independent industrial chains, accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system and driving artificial intelligence integration through an “AI Plus” programme. Infrastructure policy will focus on six new networks – water systems, next‑generation power grids, high‑performance computing, next‑generation communications, underground urban pipelines and logistics – designed to support long‑term growth.
The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to maintain abundant market liquidity, curb destructive price competition and promote a unified, well‑regulated national market.
