China to launch four new high-speed railway lines on September 28

China State Railway Group has announced the opening of four new high-speed railway lines on September 28, spanning North, Northwest, Central, and Northeast China. These lines are intended to densify the national “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed rail network.

The new routes include:

• The Xiongan to Shangqiu section of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway, covering 552 km and reducing travel time between Xiongan and Shangqiu to as little as 2 hours and 27 minutes.

• The Xi'an to Ankang section of the Xi'an-Yu'an high-speed railway, a 171 km stretch allowing travel from Xi'an East to Ankang West in just 45 minutes at speeds of 350 km/h.

• The Yichang to Xingshan high-speed railway, providing a new high-speed corridor in Central China with a design speed of 350 km/h.

• The Harbin to Yichun high-speed railway, China’s northernmost high-speed line. Spanning 318 km with a design speed of 250 km/h, it features Yichun West, the highest-latitude high-speed station in the country. The line will connect Harbin to Yichun in as little as 1 hour and 46 minutes and will implement a market-oriented flexible pricing mechanism.
