China urges Global South journalists to amplify South-South cooperation
China has called on journalists from the Global South to use objective reporting and diverse perspectives to connect the country with the rest of the world. During the opening ceremony of a four-month training program in Beijing, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Hong Lei encouraged participants to amplify the narrative of South-South cooperation.
The training program is organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) and the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC). Approximately 100 foreign journalists representing 100 different countries are participating in the initiative.
Hong Lei stated that the program aims to help journalists gain an intimate understanding of China’s history and dynamism to present a multidimensional picture of the nation. He emphasized China’s commitment to the development of Global South countries through shared interests and common development.
