China's President Xi Jinping to visit North Korea in June

Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to make a state visit to North Korea on June 8‑9, his first trip to the country in seven years. The visit will include talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong‑un and is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties.

Ahead of the visit, North Korean officials reiterated the country's unconditional commitment to its nuclear program, stating that nuclear issues would not be on the agenda of the talks. The Korean Central News Agency quoted Kim Yo‑jong emphasizing that the nuclear stance is a “red line” that cannot be altered. The visit follows recent diplomatic activity, including a prior meeting in Beijing and broader regional discussions involving the United States.

Both governments have stressed the importance of deepening the traditional friendship between China and North Korea while navigating concerns over regional security and nuclear weapons development.
