China's Sany Heavy Industry expands electric truck exports amid rising global demand
China is accelerating the export of heavy‑duty electric trucks, driven by a surge in global demand following the Iran conflict. Michael Yue, executive director of exports for Sany Heavy Industry, said an international customer has ordered about 880 trucks for delivery by the end of June, marking the largest Chinese electric‑truck export order to date. The Chinese Ministry of Transport aims for electric heavy trucks to account for 40 % of new sales by 2030, with over 80 % of short‑haul trucks around Beijing slated for electrification. Lower operating costs and declining battery prices have made electric trucks cost‑competitive with diesel models in China, while overseas prices remain roughly twice as high. Sany has already begun exporting to markets such as Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates, leveraging automated factories to keep production costs low.
