Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has issued a stern warning to Japan during a meeting in Beijing with Takeshi Iwaya, President of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade. Wang described the current state of bilateral relations as grave and urged Tokyo to correct its leadership's erroneous stance regarding Taiwan.

Highlighting the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Tokyo Trials, Wang warned that if Japan fails to learn from its history, challenges its post-war pacifist constitution, or attempts to rehabilitate war criminals, it will have no future and will be unable to face the international community. He emphasized the need for Japan to develop an objective and rational understanding of China.

The diplomatic friction follows statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who suggested that a Chinese military action against Taiwan could constitute a threat to Japan's survival. This shift from the traditional policy of strategic ambiguity has significantly heightened tensions between the two nations.
