By September 30, the visit included meetings with Vice Premier He Lifeng. He Lifeng noted that the actions of certain Japanese politicians regarding militarism and the Taiwan issue have impacted bilateral economic development. Analysts viewed the high-level reception of Iwaya as a selective form of engagement by Beijing, intended to maintain communication with Japanese business circles while simultaneously applying pressure on the Japanese administration's political stance.
