Chinese automakers expand manufacturing presence in Spain

Chinese automotive companies are expanding their presence in Spain through new manufacturing and development partnerships.

Ford has entered a joint venture with Geely to enhance production at its Valencia plant. While existing models like the Kuga will continue to be manufactured, a new production line will be established to produce a Bronco SUV model and a new crossover developed through joint efforts. Geely also plans to produce two purely electric SUVs at the site.

Additionally, the Chinese group BAIC is shifting its European strategy to focus on Linares, Spain. The company is working to revive the historic Santana Motors factory complex. Rather than importing finished vehicles from Asia, BAIC intends to launch series production in the factory and build a localized supplier chain within Europe, with the first vehicles expected to roll off the line in the second half of this year.
