Chinese automakers expand into Europe with EVs and electric trucks

Geely Auto is launching its EX2 electric hatchback in the United Kingdom. The model, the best‑selling car in China with about 450,000 units sold last year, will be offered in three trims at prices ranging from £20,990 to £25,490. Geely aims to ship 100,000 EX2 units per year in the UK by 2030.

Zeekr, Geely’s premium brand, has begun sales of the 9X luxury SUV in Europe, starting in Sweden. The 9X is powered by a 897 hp (approximately 661 kW) super‑hybrid system, accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and can charge from 10 % to 80 % in 9.5 minutes. It features a 47‑inch AR‑HUD, a 32‑speaker Naim audio system and a high‑end interior marketed as a “salon on wheels”.

Chinese truck maker SuperPanther is assembling its eTopas 600 electric tractor in Austria at Steyr Automotive’s plant. The truck has a 42‑tonne gross vehicle weight, a claimed 600 km range and is already in commercial use for customers such as DHL, Gress, Temmel and Lontex in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic.
