Chinese businessman confesses to killing six-year-old in Guyana
A 76-year-old Chinese businessman, Quan Sheng Li, has reportedly confessed to the killing of six-year-old Zi Feng Cao in Parika, East Bank Essequibo. The incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon at the child's family restaurant.
According to investigators, the motive stems from a financial dispute involving approximately US$3 million. Li claimed he had invested money into the family's business and had gone to the restaurant to demand repayment. An argument allegedly ensued between Li and the child's parents.
Witness accounts suggest that as Li was leaving the premises following the dispute, the child arrived home from school. An employee reported that the boy approached Li and hugged him moments before collapsing. Police recovered a brown-handled chopper, which Li reportedly led them to at the Parika junction.
During questioning, Li allegedly stated that the disagreement escalated and he felt cornered. He admitted to striking the child with the weapon between the shoulder and the head before fleeing the scene. Police are continuing their investigation using CCTV footage and recovered evidence.
