Chinese Car Brands Accelerate Sales and Interest in Hungary
Chinese automotive manufacturers are expanding their presence in Hungary. The Chinese commercial‑vehicle maker Foton, owned by BAIC and based in Beijing, has launched sales of seven models, including the fully electric Cavan C1 van priced at 9,990,000 HUF, the C1 Plus at 11,590,000 HUF, and three electric pickups (Tunland G7, V7, V9) priced between 12,190,000 HUF and 14,890,000 HUF. Foton also offers the eMiler electric flatbed truck at 9,810,000 HUF, the cheapest truck in its range, and the diesel‑powered Aumark truck at 11,990,000 HUF.
A separate trend shows a sharp rise in Hungarian consumer interest in Chinese passenger cars. Data from Használtautó.hu indicate that inquiries for Chinese models grew 77 % year‑on‑year in the first half of 2026, reaching 21,600 compared with 12,100 a year earlier, while listings of Chinese vehicles almost doubled from 1,670 to 3,300. The MG brand remained the most popular with over 10,100 inquiries, followed by rapid growth for BYD (156 % increase to more than 6,900 inquiries) and OMODA (167 % increase). Specific models drawing the most attention include the MG ZS SUV, BYD ATTO 3, and BYD SEAL.
