Chinese companies expand into humanoid robotics manufacturing

Major developments are occurring in the humanoid robotics sector, driven by Chinese companies expanding their manufacturing and product offerings.

BYD plans to unveil a humanoid robot in August at its “Di Space” experience centers. This move marks the automaker's expansion into robotics, diversifying its business beyond electric vehicles and batteries. This announcement comes alongside strong performance in its core business, with BYD reporting record vehicle exports and significant growth in New Energy Vehicle sales.

Meanwhile, the Chinese company Agibot is set to open its first European humanoid robot factory in Šabac, Serbia, in partnership with Minth Group. Agibot has seen rapid growth, reportedly delivering approximately 8,400 humanoid robots in the first half of the year—a 562 percent increase compared to the previous year. The company recently reached a milestone of producing its 15,000th humanoid robot.
