Chinese developers port iOS 17 to Xiaomi Redmi K90 Pro Max
A developer in China, using the pseudonym Jiang Ling Xia Cao, has reportedly successfully installed Apple's iOS 17 operating system on a Xiaomi Redmi K90 Pro Max Android smartphone.
While the system demonstrates significant technical progress, it is not yet a fully functional device. Currently, the port supports the 120Hz display, GPU graphics rendering, multi-core processor tasks, and USB data transfer. Screen recordings show the iOS interface, including settings and the App Library, operating with touch input.
However, many critical hardware components remain non-functional. The cameras, speakers, mobile network connectivity, SIM card support, and physical buttons for volume and power do not work. The developer is reportedly working on enabling Wi-Fi, brightness control, and IPA app sideloading. The project utilizes the UniXNU foundation to facilitate running iOS on non-Apple hardware.
