Chery launches iCAUR electric‑SUV brand in Brazil

Chery announced that its iCAUR division will begin commercial operations in Brazil in August, with a press briefing scheduled for 5 August followed by a dealer event the next day. The brand, pronounced “iCar”, is led in Brazil by CEO Hu Peng and vice‑president Roger Corassa.

The initial model line includes the V27 – a large SUV equipped with an extended‑range electric system (EREV) that uses a 1.5 L turbo gasoline engine as a generator, delivering up to 455 hp and priced between roughly R$150 000 and R$230 000. The V23 is a compact SUV offering 47‑82 kWh battery capacity and up to 501 km of CLTC range. The mid‑size 03 (known elsewhere as Jaecoo J6) features a 69.8 kWh battery, up to 279 hp and about 500 km of range. Production will utilise the former Jaguar Land Rover plant in Itatiaia, Rio de Janeiro, which is being prepared for Chery’s multiple brands.

iCAUR becomes the fifth Chery‑linked marque in Brazil, complementing Omoda, Jaecoo, Jetour and other models already on the market, and targets the fast‑growing electric‑SUV segment.
