Chinese EV makers Xpeng and IM Motors target Brazil luxury SUV market
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers are expanding their presence in the Brazilian luxury SUV market. Xpeng plans to officially enter Brazil by the second half of 2027, with strategies including the establishment of a parts distribution center and potential local assembly through partnerships with Brazilian companies. The brand intends to introduce models such as the G6 coupe and the G9 SUV.
Simultaneously, IM Motors, the luxury division of MG Motor, is preparing to launch the IM6 electric SUV in Brazil. The high-end model features up to 752 hp and an 800V architecture. The brand reported that the initial batch of 300 units has already been pre-reserved by the Brazilian public. This move positions IM Motors to compete directly with established electric models from brands like BYD and Zeekr.
