Chinese EV makers Zeekr and Geely ramp up competition in Europe, Brazil
Zeekr, a Chinese premium electric‑vehicle brand, launched the 7GT model in 16 European countries. Priced from €47,990 in Germany and equipped with up to 646 hp, fast charging and a 15‑inch OLED screen, the car has attracted more than 3,800 pre‑orders and is seen as a direct threat to German luxury manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes‑Benz and Volkswagen. While the launch is focused on Europe, the brand is also being watched for a possible entry into the Brazilian market.
In Brazil, Geely reduced the price of its EX2 hatch to R$ 99,001, making it the cheapest electric car available. Targeted at rideshare drivers, the EX2 offers a rear‑motor, 116 hp, a 39.4 kWh battery with a WLTP range of 289 km and rapid acceleration. The discount challenges BYD’s dominance in the Brazilian EV segment and could force the market leader to adjust its pricing strategy.
