Chinese hospital ship conducts medical missions in Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire

The Chinese hospital ship Arche de Bon Augure, part of the Harmony 2026 mission, is conducting humanitarian medical tours in West Africa.

In Guinea, the vessel docked at the Port of Conakry for a seven-day mission. During this period, Chinese medical teams provided free consultations, high-precision examinations, and vital surgeries, including cataract operations and lipoma extractions. The mission also involved knowledge sharing at the Sino-Guinean Friendship Hospital in Kipé and medical care for military personnel.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the ship is docked at the Autonomous Port of Abidjan until October 21, 2026. Vice-Admiral Célestin Kouamé N’Guessan announced that the mission aims to treat approximately 4,000 patients. The ship is equipped with advanced medical technology and specialists covering disciplines such as cardiology, ophthalmology, urology, gynecology, and pediatrics. This visit marks the first time a Chinese hospital ship has visited Côte d'Ivoire to provide medical services.
