Chinese Humanoid Robot Firms LimX Dynamics Raises $2 B, BYD Plans August Launch

Chinese humanoid robot startup LimX Dynamics announced a pre‑IPO financing round that raised about $2 billion (≈330 billion yen), valuing the company at roughly 150 billion yuan. The round was led by investors including IDG Capital, Lens Technology, Green Guarantee Group, Redstone VC, WestSummit Capital and others. LimX, founded in Shenzhen in 2022, claims to have secured thousands of orders, with the majority destined for overseas markets, and has begun shipping hundreds of units of its no‑code controllable humanoid "Luna".

Electric‑vehicle giant BYD disclosed that it will unveil its first humanoid robot in early August and aims to place two to three units in each of its dealership locations for customer assistance, product demonstrations and service tasks. Executive vice‑president Stella Lee outlined a commercial rollout plan targeting nationwide deployment within the next one to two years. The announcement coincides with a broader surge of investment and development across China’s robot sector, as other automakers such as XPeng, Chery and FAW also pilot humanoid platforms for sales, manufacturing and smart‑factory applications.
