Chinese national detained in Hong Kong with 2kg of cocaine from Penang
A 25-year-old Chinese man was detained by Hong Kong Customs and Excise at Hong Kong International Airport after authorities discovered two kilograms of suspected cocaine in his checked luggage. The suspect arrived from Penang via Cathay Pacific flight CX622.
According to Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, Director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, preliminary investigations suggest the suspect obtained the drugs from an unidentified individual at a supermarket in Penang. The suspect reportedly spent three days in Malaysia and was promised a reward of RMB 2,000 (approximately RM 1,200) for the transaction.
Investigations revealed that the suspect’s passport was newly issued in October and he had no prior travel records. The Malaysian Narcotics Crime Investigation Department is coordinating with Hong Kong authorities to identify the syndicate members involved in the drug trafficking operation.
