Chinese nationals flee South Korea after vandalizing Bundang restaurant

Four Chinese nationals, aged between their 20s and 40s, are suspected of vandalizing a Chinese restaurant in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The establishment, which bears the name of Chinese leader Xi Jinping, was targeted in the early hours of September 24.

According to police investigations and CCTV footage, the suspects entered the premises around 2:40 a.m., spending approximately one hour spraying red and black lacquer and paint across walls, furniture, and equipment. They are also accused of spraying an unidentified substance, suspected to be pesticide, onto food ingredients in the kitchen. The restaurant owner reported receiving various protests and calls regarding the business name in recent months.

Following the incident, the suspects traveled by taxi to a lodging in Seoul before departing from Incheon International Airport for China, specifically targeting Yantai and Shanghai. Although police identified the suspects on the day of the crime, the individuals had already left the country. Authorities plan to pursue the case through international judicial cooperation.
