Chiyoda Town launches “Not the Chiyoda” campaign in Tokyo
Chiyoda Town in Gunma Prefecture has launched a unique city promotion campaign titled “Not the Chiyoda” (Janai hou no Chiyoda) to distinguish itself from Chiyoda City in Tokyo. The campaign utilizes the common confusion between the two locations to highlight the town's specific charms, such as its identity as a “Beer Town” due to a local Suntory brewery.
The promotion includes transit advertisements at bus stops near Nagata-cho, Kanda, Akihabara, and Kudanshita stations, as well as large posters at Yurakucho Station. The campaign features original characters, “Chiyoda-sen Otoko” and “Machiko,” who serve as guides and appear in short dramas on TikTok.
Additionally, a pop-up event called “Chiyoda no Sakaba” is scheduled to take place at the Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan in Yurakucho from September 18 to 20. The event will feature information on hometown tax donations, character displays, and lottery activities.
