Chodov, Czech Republic opens new pedestrian bridge over Chodovský potok

A new reinforced‑concrete pedestrian bridge has been installed on Poděbradova Street in the town of Chodov, replacing an aging steel structure that had reached the end of its service life. The bridge, built at the same level as adjacent sidewalks, provides a barrier‑free crossing for residents, including parents with strollers, seniors and people with limited mobility. Mayor Patrik Pizinger highlighted the improved safety and convenience, while deputy mayor Luděk Soukup said the bridge should be open to the public in early July.

The project cost 4.4 million Czech crowns (including VAT) and involved purchasing part of the riverbank from the state water authority, reinforcing the banks, and adjusting approach ramps. Final works such as installing railings and completing surrounding sidewalks are still pending, with full completion expected within a week of opening.
