Choi Young-jung: Former councilor's minor victims increase to four

The number of victims in the child prostitution case involving former Cheongju City Councilor Choi Young-jung has increased to four. The Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station reported that while the initial investigation focused on two minors, a review of Choi’s communication records revealed evidence of sexual crimes against two additional minors.

Choi is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with a middle school student on three separate occasions between October 2024 and the following year, using locations such as vehicles and motels. The allegations include demanding nude photographs from the victim and offering financial incentives if the victim brought acquaintances to join. Investigators also noted messages involving sexual videos and suggestions of sexual encounters with women of other nationalities.

Choi has denied the charges, stating, “I had sexual relations, but I did not know they were minors.” Prosecutors are expected to indict Choi around the 25th, following a review of the case records transferred by the police.
