Overview

In late June 2026, police dismantled a Chinese-run prostitution network in Jeju, arresting a 30-year-old Chinese woman and seizing digital evidence. Arrest warrants were issued for two suspects who fled to China and Cambodia.

During a 15-hour interrogation in late July, investigators probed allegations that Choi arranged sexual encounters in cars and motels and offered payments for victims to bring others. Forensic examination of Choi’s phone in early August revealed nude photographs of a woman in school-uniform-like attire, prompting a search for additional victims.

By late August, the Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station reported that the number of identified minor victims had increased to four. Evidence from communication records suggests Choi engaged in sexual crimes against two additional minors beyond the initial investigation. Prosecutors are expected to indict Choi following a review of the case records.
