Cholera vaccine rollout in Bangui and response committee in N'Djamena

A shipment of 660,000 oral cholera vaccine doses arrived in Bangui to support a mass vaccination campaign targeting areas with reported cases, such as Bimbo and Mbaïki. Health authorities plan to vaccinate everyone aged one year and older, complementing hygiene measures like hand‑washing and safe water use. The effort is backed by Gavi, the Central African Republic government and other technical and financial partners.

In Chad’s capital, officials in the 10ᵉ arrondissement of N’Djamena convened a meeting chaired by Mayor Mahamat Khalil Abdelkerim. They established a communal cholera response committee, led by Administrator Mahamat Abba Meï, to coordinate prevention, awareness and rapid response actions across the district. The committee will work with health officials, local associations and community leaders to curb the outbreak.
