Public health coordination in Central Africa

In late July 2026 municipal authorities in Niamey, Niger, and the Danamadji sub‑prefecture in Chad convened health committees to review ongoing programmes, assess budget execution and formulate recommendations for improving service delivery, vaccination coverage and epidemic prevention.

A week later, the focus shifted to an acute cholera response. A large shipment of oral cholera vaccine arrived in Bangui, Central African Republic, to support a mass vaccination campaign in affected districts, while officials in N’Djamena, Chad, established a dedicated cholera response committee to coordinate prevention, awareness and rapid‑response actions. Together, the snapshots illustrate a continuing pattern of regional health authorities organizing committees and mobilising resources to strengthen public‑health services and address disease outbreaks across Central Africa.
