Chon Buri kindergarten shooting leaves teacher dead

A shooting at a kindergarten in Chon Buri province, Thailand, resulted in the death of a 48-year-old teacher, Pailin Thongthat. The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, September 9, at a school under the Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict Administration in the Bang Lamung district.

Witnesses reported seeing a man arrive in a white Honda vehicle, approach the victim, and engage in conversation before shots were fired. Police recovered a 9mm shell casing near the victim's body in the school canteen. The suspect is identified as the victim's husband, Thatsaphong Thongthat, an active police lieutenant.

Emergency responders and local authorities, including Chon Buri Governor Naris Niramaiwong, arrived to secure the scene. All 44 students at the school were successfully evacuated to a safe area; no children were injured, though some were reportedly frightened by the gunfire. The school has since closed, and parents were notified to collect their children.
