Chongqing unveils 2030 transportation and logistics development plan

Chongqing has unveiled its “Fifteenth Five-Year” Modern Integrated Transportation System and Logistics Development Plan (2026–2030). The strategic goal is to establish the city as a major national transportation pole and an international logistics hub connecting European, Chinese, and ASEAN markets by 2030.

Key objectives include achieving a “1-2-3” travel and logistics circle: one-hour connectivity with the Chengdu-Chongqing dual core, three-hour access to provincial capitals, and six-hour reach to major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. In logistics, the city aims for one-day domestic delivery, two-day delivery to neighboring countries, and three-day delivery to major global cities.

The plan focuses on integrating ten major networks, including rail, road, water, aviation, and low-altitude transport. Infrastructure improvements will prioritize the completion of major tunnels and bridges, such as the Science City Tunnel, which is expected to halve travel time between University Town and Tianxingqiao within the year. By 2030, Chongqing aims to expand its rail mileage beyond 800 kilometers and increase the share of rail in public transport to 60%.
