Choriti, Greece hosts three‑day Saint Paraskevi festival with traditional kourbani

From 25 to 27 July, the village of Choriti in northern Greece will hold a three‑day celebration honoring Saint Paraskevi. The program, organized by the Municipality of Pyrlaia‑Choriti together with the local cultural and tourism vice‑mayor Vicky Kanellou, includes a procession of the holy icon, an evening vigil, liturgical services each morning, and the customary kourbani feast.

The climax on Sunday night features the traditional kourbani accompanied by a municipal orchestra and folk‑dance ensembles. Mayor Ignaίtiοs Kaitezidis highlighted the event’s role in preserving local traditions and bringing together residents and visitors.

The festivities aim to reinforce community identity, transmit cultural values to younger generations, and showcase the region’s religious and cultural heritage.
