Peru experiences frequent seismic activity and weather alerts

Peru continues to experience consistent seismic activity across various regions. Recent reports from the Instituto Geofísico del Perú (IGP) include a magnitude 3.8 earthquake near Tarma, Junín, and a magnitude 3.6 tremor near Chosica, Lima, which occurred on October 14. Other recent movements include a magnitude 3.6 earthquake near Huacho, Huaura, and a magnitude 5.1 earthquake in Camaná, Arequipa, recorded earlier in the week.

In addition to seismic events, the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) has issued alerts regarding weather patterns. The country has faced multiple 'friajes' (cold fronts) affecting the jungle regions, bringing heavy rains, electrical discharges, and high winds. These weather conditions have placed 132 districts in the jungle at risk of landslides and mudslides, according to Indeci.
