Chou Kaguya-hime! anime film returns to theaters with ULTRA 4DX format

The original animated film ‘Chou Kaguya-hime!’ is set for a special theatrical re-release starting September 18, 2026. Following a successful run that earned over 2.5 billion yen in box office revenue and attracted 1.2 million viewers, the film will now be available in several enhanced formats, including MX4D, 4DX, SCREENX, ULTRA 4DX, and Dolby Atmos.

The ULTRA 4DX format combines 4DX motion seats with the 270-degree multi-projection system of SCREENX to provide an immersive experience. This version features synchronized environmental effects such as wind, water sprays, smoke, and temperature changes to match the film's virtual space, ‘Tsukuyomi’.

To celebrate the re-release, various attendee benefits and merchandise will be distributed. These include illustrated boards, gold-leaf stickers, and paper clips depending on the viewing format. Additionally, a ‘Chou Kaguya-hime! Official History Book’ and new character merchandise will be available for purchase. The re-release will also continue the tradition of screening music videos following the main feature.
