Chou Kaguya-hime! announces new theatrical benefits and VRChat expansion

The Netflix original animated film ‘Chou Kaguya-hime!’ has announced its second round of theatrical admission benefits. From September 25 to October 1, moviegoers will receive one of three random ‘Fanatic Omatsuri Girl’ cheering fans featuring characters Kaguya, Iroha Sakayori, and Yachiyo Tsukimi in new costumes.

The film, a modern reimagining of the ‘Tale of the Bamboo Cutter’ incorporating virtual space and streaming culture, has seen significant commercial success. Its theatrical run previously surpassed 2.7 billion yen in box office revenue, and its Blu-ray release recently reached the top of the Oricon weekly rankings, with the special limited edition alone seeing shipments of 108,000 units.

In addition to the theatrical re-release in formats such as 4DX and SCREENX, the franchise is expanding into social VR. A special world recreating the in-universe ‘Tsukuyomi’ space will be released on VRChat on September 25. An online live event is also scheduled for December 26 via YouTube and VRChat.
