CHP delays disciplinary action against MPs joining Yeni Parti

The Republican People's Party (CHP) High Disciplinary Board has postponed its decision regarding nine members of parliament who have joined the Yeni Parti. The investigation includes prominent figures such as Ali Mahir Başarır, Veli Ağbaba, and Umut Akdoğan. The board has rescheduled its next meeting for September 18 to allow for a detailed review of legal procedures.

The delay stems from technical issues regarding official resignations. Although the MPs have declared their move to Yeni Parti, they have not yet submitted formal resignation letters to the CHP headquarters. To finalize the disciplinary process, the MPs must provide signed resignation documents, or the CHP must petition the Court of Cassation to verify their official membership status in another party.

In a related development involving political tensions, Baki Aydöner, a detained former CHP member, criticized Yeni Parti founder Bülent Tezcan via social media. Aydöner, currently held in Silivri Prison following investigations into municipal corruption, challenged Tezcan regarding detention orders issued for Tezcan’s daughter and son-in-law, who are currently abroad. Aydöner urged Tezcan to ensure his relatives return to face legal processes to align his political rhetoric with actual action.
