CHP Deputy Ali Mahir Başarır criticises party leadership and warns of economic hardship in Turkey's Black Sea region

CHP deputy Ali Mahir Başarır toured the Black Sea provinces, including Giresun, Artvin, Rize, Trabzon and Maçka, where he held a public meeting with local officials and citizens. He denounced the party's current leadership, calling it a "mutlak butlan" (null) administration and warned that the CHP could not be divided, emphasizing the unity of the party's organisational will.

In his speeches, Başarır highlighted severe economic distress, citing a food‑poverty line of 36,000 TL and a minimum pension of 23,550 TL that leaves retirees unable to survive 20 days. He accused the national government of targeting the CHP instead of addressing the crisis, and urged the party to continue fighting for the under‑privileged, detained artists, politicians and local officials.

He also referenced the party’s grassroots outreach, noting that he and his team walked roughly 40 kilometres to meet citizens, contrasting this with the leadership’s perceived inability to even walk 40 metres in the eyes of the electorate. His comments were framed as a call to restore hope and renew the party’s commitment to the people.
