CHP dismisses Nazilli district chairman Sema Aslı Ökmen amid internal dispute

The Republican People's Party (CHP) central executive committee removed Nazilli district chairman Sema Aslı Ökmen and the incumbent district board members. The decision, part of a broader party purge following recent court rulings, led to the appointment of Naim Atmaca as the new district chairman.

Ökmen and a large group of supporters blocked the district headquarters, preventing the incoming team from entering and keeping the doors locked. She issued a statement at the building, rejecting the dismissal as illegitimate and asserting that the district leadership had been elected by party members. Ökmen also announced on social media that she had received the written dismissal notice and pledged to continue the struggle against what she described as an undemocratic decision.
